The note on your connection request is doing the opposite of what you think.

It is the most agonised-over sentence in outbound. People rewrite it, test it, ask three colleagues to look at it.

Get AI to add an extra line to it.

And that is reasonable. It is the first thing a stranger ever sees from you.

But a note is almost always a pitch aimed at somebody who has not agreed to hear one.

A name merged onto a paragraph about your company, your service and your calendar link.

Buyers recognise the shape of it before the first line ends, which is why industry reply rates sit in low single digits.

A blank request asks the only question a connection request should ask.

Want to connect?

The work happens after they accept. A greeting, one real observation, an easy question.
